This is Good Standing co-founder Joanne’s home. And when your friends and family know you’re an architect, they’re looking for something jaw-dropping. Joanne’s husband just wanted it to be “cool.” Despite that wildly descriptive direction, Joanne wasn’t having it. “The world is chaos,” she said at the time. “When I come home, I want calm.” That calm, however, is often short lived. The space is heavily used for large family gatherings; friends drop over unannounced; and there’s usually a surfboard, bike, or hockey bag somewhere. Glenholme needed storage, of course. But it also needed multiple zones to temporarily escape the people the family loves most: each other. Glenholme’s sense of calm stems from its minimal aesthetic and warm, natural materials at every turn.
